I don't think 10 seconds as a default is very useful, it's quite a long time and if you look at dpdk pkt-gen or netmap pkt-gen they use 1 second refresh time. I tested the patch using netmap-pkt gen to pump a lot of packets and 1 second accuracy was ok, I don't know what kind of problems you were seeing, maybe you should try with this version, I noticed that the first version you sent did have problems but they were caused by improper calculation of the speed. Try it yourself again with 1 second and if it works maybe you'll consider setting that as a default. But any way it's in parameter so in my case I can just increase it if needed.
