I'm not sure but its subject is strange. 
It's not only the converting to DM_MMC. you're adding mpc8397.dtb device-tree.
I think you don't add device-tree for only mmc.

It's better to separate patches. "Add devicetree...", " Convert to DM_MMC". 
It's just my opinion.
